This painting provides a rare depictions of the landscape directly behind the Griswold House. Brightly colored flowers bloom in the foreground, and a female figure dressed in white stands in the middle distance. Documentation suggests that the painting was owned by Florence Griswold. In 1938, after her death, all of her possessions were sold at auction including this painting which is cited as item number 514 in that sale.
